CSU: Sacramento - Commencement Spring 2013
Congrats on finding this page! Shouldn’t have been too hard since I had it posted on my head at graduation, right?
I made this page because a graduation cap is simply not enough space for me to fully express my gratitude and thanks to those who helped me get where I am now.
First, if you are a hiring agency, feel free to peruse this website to see my work in the journalism field here at Sacramento State: through the State Hornet Newspaper I had put in four semesters of work, two as a staff photographer, one as a sports writer and my most recent being print photo editor. I specialize in photojournalism and visual reporting that usually coincides with stories being ran online or in print.
My extra curricular activities include reading, playing guitar, going to the gym and participating in adventure races and 5K runs.
Now, to my mentors, friends and family, you had each given me support and guidance in your own ways:
To Molly Dugan – Thank you for your guidance with my writing skills and being a mentor who I had come to respect. Each semester I had been here you had opened up my eyes to the hardships and benefits of reporting social issues such as war and ethnic-based struggles, it is because of you I have a stronger affinity to become a traveler in my career.
To Holly Heyser – I cannot thank you for the continued support in the Hornet and the atmosphere you had allowed us to create to become a dysfunctional family. The newsroom had become a second home to me and I have a better grasp on how writers and shooters are to work and play together.
To Molly and Holly, enjoy Europe!
To the staff and editors from the Hornet (Too many to name) - You all had been a pleasure to be around both in and out of work. We had been there for each other to deal with a lot during this semester. I cannot thank you all enough for the good times and the support through the bad. We played hard, drank a lot and I hope to see all of you over the summer and years to come.
Sunday @ 5 – My fellow band mates and one of the groups I consider to be family. Despite the hardships I faced these past few months, you all had been patient and reassuring to allow me to handle my business during my hiatus from playing with you all. I will be back with you soon to play and help the church in praise and worship like we always have.
To my best friend, Hollie – You have been the constant friend I adore and can count on you to be there when I need you the most. Motivating me to keep up my work in school and in the gym, you are truly the best friend I have the pleasure of knowing. You have a great life ahead of you and know I will be here like you have been for me.
My brother, Jeremy – I love you, with all we had been dealing with this past year you have kept a strong demeanor and knocked sense into me whenever I needed it. I could not have asked for a better brother with all you have done for me and the family, do not change. I am damn proud of you for what you are doing in your career and see nothing but success in your life. I promise I will be there when you walk, camera in hand.
My parents, Emy & Ver – I finally did it! No one could ask for a better support system than you two. I had my screw-ups, my delays and my own problems but I am here, walking on commencement. As I have grown older I know the value of having an education and will value your advice in my life. With everything that I had endured these past few months, you two have enforced the fact you always had a hand out for me to grab in case I needed it. In my times of need and trial you told me to keep my faith and endure and I have. I have been blessed with a great family who has never turned its back on me and has provided love and support, there is not anything I could ask for more from you two and Jeremy. Thank you, I love you.
Congratulations to the Class of 2013!
